stargazer residence
The Stargazer Residence required an artful approach to massing. Outdoor living spaces were created along the slope below the house through utilization of plinths of paving materials. An avid amateur astronomer, the client required dark skies and limited glare from lighting while still providing safety lighting throughout the outdoor spaces. This was achieved through lighting placed in niches in the paving plinths and maintaining all lighting well below eye level and fully shielded.
The landscape design is influenced by material play and textural contrast instead of bold color. This develops a subtle landscape in sync with the restrained architectural palette.
